Fields and Cards

Fields are the building blocks of model templates in Lawyaw. We use the term "field" to refer to the specific, individual pieces of information that make up a model template. The fields change from matter-to-matter and the template is set up by identifying the fields that are needed to generate the document.

Some common fields are counsel or party names, court information, dates and amounts.

Cards are just a simple way to organize fields. For example, if your template had different fields for Client name, street address and email, these fields could all be grouped into a card labeled "Client 1."

Types of Fields

There are four types of fields:

• Short text: Used for text that is less than one line;
• Long text:  Used for text that is greater than one line;
• Multiple Choice: Used to insert text based on selected options;
• Date:  Used for dates with a variety of different format choices.

Types of Cards

There are two types of cards:

• Roles: Used for storing information relating to people or entities (the actors or roles in your document); and
• Other: Used for storing information relating to dates, clauses and figures
